Take Stock in Children of Sarasota County is a mentoring and scholarship program for Sarasota County at-risk youth from low-income families.

Our Mission:
To identify at-risk youth, place them in an environment of success, provide them with mentors and program support/case management to enable them to achieve high school graduation and gain entrance into post-secondary education. Take Stock in Children is a mentoring program that provides at-risk youth from low-income families with hope for the future, a full-tuition scholarship to college/technical school and the support they need to achieve their dreams.
Take Stock in Children began in Sarasota County in 1996 and TSIC of Sarasota County became an independent organization (obtained 501 (c)(3)), on July 1, 2002. Since inception, the program has had 125 youth graduate from the program and attend college. Take Stock in Children of Sarasota County's graduation rate is 95% (Florida's high school graduation rate is 65%) and this program exclusively serves at-risk youth!! Currently, over 220 TSIC middle and high school students are active in Sarasota County and growing!

Scholarships, Mentors & Hope
Our students promise to:
remain drug and crime free,
maintain good grades,
meet with a mentor
graduate from high school.
In return, students receive:
a full-tuition scholarship to college or vocational/technical school through the Florida Prepaid College Program
a trained, volunteer mentor from the community who meets with them once per week for about an hour. A mentor is a friend or guide who encourages a student and helps them make positive choices.
